et patrons can be sent e-mails promoting specific products. Businesses, however, have to be careful about sending unsolicited e-mails because many customers and businesses are frustrated by the practice of spamming or sending out mass unwanted e-mails.
Spamming on the Internet is equivalent to sending out junk mail to an untargeted audience. Instead, the firm should develop a more targeted Internet e-mail direct-marketing program. To do so, the first step is to get the customer’s permission. Obtaining this permission is easier when some type of reward is offered.
Most companies that market on the Internet adopt the above technique where in they use Web built-in forms that customers can check in order to receive company’s free newsletter then click the confirmation email which they get in their inbox to start receiving those newsletters and updates. Also, from the company’s perspective, the form is designed to obtain names for a database which may then be used in later direct-mail and e-mail marketing programs.
Some florists, for instance, have been successful using email to encourage direct sales. These companies obtain the client’s permission and then send reminders about anniversaries, birthdays and other important dates. Many customers find these personalized e-mails to be beneficial. It takes time to develop this type of program because the company needs a great deal of information from customers. When the relation is established, however, it can be a very strong direct-marketing technique.
The most recent trend in direct marketing via the Internet is interactive marketing. Interactive marketing is individualizing and personalizing everything from the Internet Web content to the product being promoted to e-mail messages.
NCR produces a software called Relationship Optimizer and Prime Response that uses powerful data analysis techniques to personalize direct offers. The NCR software analyzes customer interactions such as click-stream data traffic, any type of customer interaction with the firm and combines it with demographic information from external or internal direct-marketing database. As the data are being processed, the software can launch complex interactive and personalized Web and e-mail campaigns.
Levi-Strauss uses a similar software called Blue Martini E-Merchandising, to customize both Levis.com and the Dockers.com Websites. The Home Shopping Network uses Edify’s Smart Options software to track user preferences and suggest product based on the customer’s past activities and current purchases. These Technologies blur the line between selling and marketing because the messages and product a customer sees are based on past purchasing activities. These programs are designed to increase the odds that the customer will see something he or she wants rather than being forced to wade through scores of products he or she has no interest in purchasing at a more standardized website.
As the technology improves and grows, other forms of direct-marketing programs through the Internet will emerge. Also, as more people access the Web while on the move – - through mobile phones and other carry-around devices – -, Web Marketers undoubtedly will develop methods to reach customers with on-demand goods and services. It is likely that direct-marketing has only scratched the surface of the potential that the Internet offers.

Ever since the first business established an online presence, marketing websites has been a major topic in the world of advertising. Like a teenager reaching adulthood, the Internet has matured as it’s grown in size. Internet marketing has truly come along way since its shaky beginnings.
In the late 1990s, online marketing experienced a dramatic drop in popularity. The bursting of the dot.com bubble left disillusionment in its wake. Was Internet marketing a complete waste of time? Luckily, some forward-thinking web designers kept believing in its potential. They contributed to a massive overhaul of website promotion that resulted in Internet marketing as we know it today.
The Old Approach to Marketing Websites
No one wants to wait a full minute for an image to load. It was as true in the 90s as it is now. In a world without today’s high-speed Internet, accessibility was at the crux of the problem with Internet marketing. Web designers thought animated graphics, flashy images and all-around razzle dazzle were the key to marketing websites. Turns out all that those ads really accomplished was eating up tons of bandwidth.
The world shares a love of music, so web designers naturally assumed that adding sound to an advertisement would entice visitors. Unfortunately, just as with the flashy graphics, sound was slow to load. Instead of massive files, now the streaming process was interfering with accessibility. Internet users were as frustrated as ever.
Marketing websites is an art. It took time to strike the right balance between presentation and functionality. Technology progressed, and web designers are now able to use those sounds and animated graphics without bogging down the website. With Java and Flash programs as well as broadband, web designers can finally tap into the full extent of their creativity. Ads that sing, dance and play the piano can load in mere seconds.
The New World of Marketing Websites
An entire industry has grown up around marketing websites. Internet marketing has even created opportunities for generating additional streams of income through tools such as personal blogs. Website marketing has blossomed as webmasters realize that it gets the job done while providing an excellent return on investment.
Imagine what a full color ad in a Sunday newspaper would cost a business owner. Placing that same ad online cost a mere fraction of print advertisements. Plus, website marketing has a global reach. An ad in your local paper won’t reach people in Europe and Asia the way, but an online ad can. Online ads cost less, and they’ve proven to have a far more extensive reach.
Few limits exist on the possibilities for marketing websites. With the ability to combine text and graphics, business owners have more choices than ever before. DHTML has been replaced by extensible hypertext markup language, XHTML for short. XHTML has made it possible to utilize visually stunning techniques, such as cascading style sheets, while still keeping the site computer-friendly.
Ways to Approach Internet Marketing
Any website owner can start with general advertisements, which can be highly effective. Bold, colorful ads capture a viewer’s attention and work today because of high-speed Internet. You can also use text-based ads to reach those using dial-up.
The Internet opened up a whole new world of Internet marketing opportunities not previously available to business owners. One new method of marketing websites is the e-zine. With an e-zine, people sign up to receive periodic emails containing useful information relevant to your business. A similar technique is starting a blog that offers insights into industry trends and interesting tidbits from the news. Blogs give you an opportunity to establish yourself as an expert in your field.
Search engine optimization is the hottest thing going in website promotion. Now there’s software to help webmasters take the proper steps to increase their search engine rankings. Also known as website promotion software, these programs provide website owners with a variety of tools for driving targeted traffic to their site through search engine visibility. Tracking services enable you to assess the effectiveness of your approach.
Marketing websites is nothing like it used to be. Now website owners can implement their ideal marketing campaign without sacrificing accessibility. Internet marketing has helped online business owners become part of the global economy.

Selecting a web hosting deal to support your site especially if you use it for business is crucial. Your site must be accessible 24hours a day and 7 days a week, each 365 days on a year. It’s hard to compete if your website is experiencing many downtime. The impact is not only to the visitor’s trustworthy about your business, but also search engine’s visibility of your website. They won’t include your site on the search result page if your site having downtime difficulties. As you already know that search engine bots are crawling pages regularly, since they couldn’t find or they receive unwanted response from your site, they won’t coming back. It will ruin your marketing/business goal on the internet.
Well, let’s talk about web hosting basic, it’s all depends to what kind of business is running via your site, it will be explained on another post, so here is the basic categories of web hosting:
1. Virtual (shared) hosting
What is Virtual (shared) hosting? It is a condition in which several web sites share one server. It is a low cost hosting because price is divided between several users. A standard virtual hosting at a rate of a range about $100 a year.
2. Dedicated server
Dedicated server hosting company lease the whole web server from a particular web hosting company. The site of web server is the web hosting company. You can opt dedicated server as a suitable option who does not wish to share a server with other web masters. For a site with many amount of visitors a dedicated server is the only rational choice. Due to higher cost, starting from $100 per month, those companies that know the worth of Internet business generally use it.
3. Collocation server
Some people say that Collocation server is quite identical to dedicated server, the fact that company doesn’t take the web server on lease. Their own web server is placed in the web hosting company. In addition to it, company has material access to their web server, which is not available while talking about a dedicated server.
4. Reseller hosting.
Reseller hosting it is aimed to those companies only wishes to begin their own web hosting business.
So what types of webhosting should you choose? again, it’s all depends on you. A little example, if you want to open an e-commerce site, then dedicated server is a must for you, but if you only want to put your content/personal content, then shared hosting is more than enough. There is one more thing that is hot in the forum: green hosting; does your webhosting using this technology? find them at the discussion on webhosting geek.

Social networking, friends, community, is the trend of web 2.0. Nowadays you can find so many social networking site on the internet. They are divided into many category based on interests, topics, or just general community site. One of my favorite social networking is facebook, merely it is the biggest and the most popular social networking site in the world. Well as I’ve said before, there are so many sites like that, but I’ve only found one social networking site which was built based on their member’s Questions and Answers! Did you believe that? What an interesting idea I think. In this site you can ask for anything (after being member of course) and then Find Answers for those questions.

If you are familiar with yahoo!answers then I think you should be fun using this site. It has more feature because you can set your own profile picture, profile page and etc. Maybe you think it’s a forum or another bulletin board site, but it is not. Even though you can discuss anything here, but it’s totally different. I can’t explain more in words, so I suggest you should check them and join the fun discussion there. Oh almost forget, there also a custom Dictionary you can use and build too! Do you have a question? find your answers!
